5 For Friday
A collection of creative finds, happenings, and other items I've squirreled away from the week.
Back when I had a blog (RIP the blog era, Substack isn’t quite it, but close) with a dear friend, we / I used to have a “5 For Friday” post where I’d share a collection of links from all sorts of found stuff on the internet that piqued my interest, fell in line with my hobbies, or even current cultural media I was into at the moment.
I’ve realized I’m missing sharing these so-called “finds,” and I need to diversify the type of content here on Creative Clippings. People are always asking me where I purchased something, or where to stay in a specific city, or what am I reading and watching at the moment. So I figure, this list (that very well could often exceed 5 I have a feeling) each week can help share some of the creatives I discover via socials, music for the moments, and even the latest article I’ve enjoyed. It’s all fuel for creativity. Without further ado, here’s some links to leave you curious and to hopefully help you discover and think about something new.

See All This (seeallthis on Substack) puts out a quarterly bilingual print art magazine and originates from The Netherlands. Each issue is focused around a theme and has a guest editor of sorts, and usually they’re people with deep thoughts and have impact across the world in their field. I had to order my issues online, but I plan on keeping these as coffee table magazines and don’t consider them throw-aways by any means.
I Can’t Afford This But Maybe She Can started out as a fun newsletter and Instagram account from two artist friends, and now has evolved to include a curated “bazaar” filled with funky, fun objects and fashion you’ll find yourself wanting and never knew you needed. I gravitate to their interviews with makers and all the whimsical, colorful art they share on social. Check them out.
Any Time Sensitive podcast listeners out there? I’m not quite a die hard, but I do love the soft-tone of Spencer Bailey’s questions and the conversations are always with people of a creative mind-set. The most recent episode with Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director of the Serpentine Galleries, was enlightening to hear about his career trajectory and some inside baseball stories about his conversations with artists. Oh, to interview Hans myself one day, now that would be the dream. Manifesting, manifesting…
Some new Insta accounts and designers I have on my radar are Living Threads and Marjolein Delhass. The former is by way of Santa Fe, New Mexico with a value placed on natural fibers in their textiles, and the latter is a paper goods designer from The Netherlands (two references in one week, oh my!) discovered by way of Blackbird Spyplane. A moment to wax about BP—my go-to Substack account for all things music, fashion, and general hip items to be in the know of, and if you’re not following them and haven’t subscribed, well, it’s your loss, truly.
I’ve finally found the single best baby gift to give over and over again, The Light in You. It’s a beautifully illustrated book by pastel artist, Katie Rodgers, who I got to work and learn from this past fall in a New Mexico retreat, and written by Eva Lin Douglass. At the moment, it’s currently sold out of its first print run, but they plan to restock with the second printing in mid-March. Do order from their website and ditch Amazon, and bookmark this one to keep on hand for each baptism, baby shower, bebe birthday, and any other gifting time for a little one. A lovely sentiment to pass on to a growing child.

Welcome back. Missed these!
I love all of these findings and reccos ! I hope you will do this more often !
